Welcome to Little Sweet Pea Lactation Support. I am Becca McCarthy and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Additionally, I run an online support group with over 1200 mothers, am a La Leche League leader and community resource for local families. It has been a pleasure to be a small part of moms’ breastfeeding adventures.

My husband and I have 3 little ones each exactly 2 years apart. Because of how long we nursed, I was pregnant and/or breastfeeding for 5 years straight! Each child was a different journey and we had to overcome a few challenges (tongue ties, giving up dairy, breathing issues while nursing, pumping while working, etc) but I wouldn’t trade the experiences for anything!

What to expect…

During an appointment, I work with, encourage and support the mother and baby unit to achieve your breastfeeding goals, whatever that may look like for your family. An initial postpartum lactation meeting includes a detailed health history, history during pregnancy, sharing your birth story and previous breastfeeding experience, assessing and weighing baby (at home visits), assisting with positioning and latching and developing a feeding plan that works for your situation. Most virtual appointments last 1 hour and in home visits last about 1.5 hours.

  • Initial virtual lactation support appointment $75

  • Initial in-person lactation support appointment $125

  • Initial in-person twin lactation support appointment $175

  • Weight check only (does not include feeding observation) $50

Tips for our meeting:

  • Please do not feel like you need to clean up before our appointment.

  • Try not to feed baby 1 hour prior to our appointment. In fact, it is very beneficial to start our discussion while baby is still sleeping and be ready to feed when baby wakes up.

  • Try to minimize distractions of pets, other children, phones, etc during the appointment to get the most benefit from our interaction.

  • Supportive partners and family are welcome to stay during the appointment if you wish.
